Meet our 2017/2018 Youth of the Year

Since 1947, Youth of the Year has been Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program, celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Club members. Each year, one exceptional Club member is selected to be the National Youth of the Year. The National Youth of the Year serves as both an exemplary ambassador for Boys & Girls Club youth and as a strong voice for all of our nation’s young people. The journey to being named National Youth of the Year begins locally and progresses to state, regional and national levels, with an additional Military phase for Youth Center members.

Terrencia Fisher - Our 2017/2018 Youth of the Year

Terrencia Fisher is a 17-year-old Senior at James S. Rickards High School and a Dual Enrollment Student attending Tallahassee Community College. She has been a member of the Boys & Girls Club since 2007. Her many hobbies include, but are not limited to, band, flag football, and assisting others whom are in need. In band, she was appointed major leadership roles, such as student staff and drum major.  Additionally, she plays three different instruments: Trumpet, Euphonium and percussion. Her achievements in band include: superiors at District and State Percussion Solo and Ensemble and superior on District Level for a Euphonium Solo.

Helping others is Terrencia's passion. Terrencia indicated that, "assisting the younger kids and teens at the Club inspires me and shows me that I can contribute and make a powerful impact on the community."

After graduating High School in May, she will attend the Florida A & M University, majoring in Nursing. While in college, she plans to continue her mission to share her knowledge and passion with youth. She also plans to one day become a Superior Public Speaker for the Youth around the world, and an astonishing nurse.
