Beginning in late February, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Street SMART initiative will be launched locally. The Street SMART Program consists of three components designed to help young people ages 10-15 effectively resist gangs and violence, resolve conflicts and be positive peer helpers in their communities. It also allows them the opportunity to hold annual events that celebrate anti-gang, anti-violence themes.

The national program, made available through Boys & Girls Clubs of America, will be implemented in various Tallahassee Housing Authority communities, various Leon County Schools (as part of the 21st Century Programs) and at various Boys & Girls Club locations. More details are forthcoming.

We are very appreciative of Sheriff Walt McNeil and the Leon County Sheriff's Department for making funding available to implement this program in 2018.
